This position is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Essential Functions
• Compile and analyze financial information to assist in preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly and annual calculations and account reconciliations
• Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Prepare financial management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
• Collect and analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
• Verify support schedules to general ledger control accounts
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review sales, cost of goods sold, and expense accounts for accuracy and make corrections as needed
• Compile and post monthly journal entries
• Assist outside insurance, government & accounting auditors
• Substantiate financial transactions and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information and supporting documents
• Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
• Assist in ad hoc analysis
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
• Current and valid US driver's license
• At least 3-4 years of applicable experience preferred
• CPA preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, preferably in a manufacturing/distribution environment
• Knowledge and experience in accounting and financial disciplines
• Advanced level MS Excel user
• Overall proficiency in MS office
• Well organized with strong analytical and reasoning abilities
• Attention to detail required, must be a self-starter and have the ability to multi-task
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in balance sheet account reconciliations; with journal entries and month-end close; filing sales and use tax returns; and working in a corporate accounting environment preferred

Work Environment
This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May occasionally require business travel.
