Principal Systems Engineer (Project Management)
What you will do:
The Principal Systems engineer will be responsible for establishing systems engineering excellence for low voltage energy storage and conversion system products such as lithium-ion batteries. You will work across product engineering teams, ensuring proper execution of systems engineering activities from requirements development to integration and verification in platform and application engineering projects.
How you will do it:
Coordinate systems engineering activities along the V-cycle between the systems, hardware, software, mechanical and electrochemistry engineering teams.
Specifically align requirements engineering, systems architecture, verification and validation, modeling, and function development across domains.
Define priorities and objectives of systems engineering activities in an environment of platform and multi-applications engineering projects.
Report to the Director of Product Engineering and work with the managers of the engineering teams as peers.
Contribute to the technology strategy and provide functional excellence in the field of safety critical low voltage energy storage and conversion systems to the team and adjacent engineering domains.
Align the system engineering activities with the needs of the application engineering projects.
Focus on design to cost, design to manufacture and time to market.
Contribute to the definition and maintenance of a platform roadmap.
Define and advance systems engineering processes, guidelines and tools.
What we look for:
Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution required.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in systems and product engineering including product launch.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in the development of automotive battery systems or x-in-1 electrification integration products.
Strong personality with the ability to drive both performance and engagement in a team amongst leaders.
Preferred:
Experience in leading automotive engineering teams is a plus.
Domain knowledge in automotive electronics, software, mechanical, and electrochemical systems and ability to lead peer-level technical discussion with those domains.
Experience in systems engineering and functional safety according to industry and automotive standards (ISO 15288, ISO 26262; certification is a plus)
Experience and confidence in the use of requirements and system architecture tools (e.g., Jama, Cameo System Modeler).
Experience in agile development is a plus.
