Peer Recovery Support Specialist (Personal Services)
A person with lived experience who helps remove personal and environmental barriers to recovery, links with the newly recovering person to the recovering community, and serves as a navigator and mentor in the management of personal and family recovery. In this role, PRSSs will be teamed with Transition Agents to work on the Jobs and Hope WV initiative. Jobs and Hope is a statewide program to provide individuals exiting treatment and /or recover programs a chance at free vocational training or community and technical college education. The PRSS will work with the Transition Agent to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all agency partners to assist the participant in overcoming barriers in the development of education and employment goals that match the participant's skills, interest and experience. Each PRSS will be required to maintain their own personal recovery.
