DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY: Provide exceptional customer service in parts sales, troubleshooting, adjustments, and repair for windows, patio doors, exterior doors, for FarNorth, Marvin, Andersen, and other brands, both in the Service Center and in the field. Regular and reliable attendance is essential to this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Service Center Duties:
Assist walk-in and phone or email customers.
Pull and sell parts to walk-in customers.
Prepare orders for delivery.
Help customers identify products and provide options for fixing problems.
Provide customers with quotes for parts and in-house repairs.
Use a forklift to restock the service department with inventory.
Maintain, clean, and organize the warehouse area.
Pull parts for field service technicians.
Use BisTrack software to write up orders and collect payments.
Use saws, routers, etc., to customize parts that are not stocked.
Repair FarNorth products.
Replace damaged parts (glass, wood, hardware, etc.) on FarNorth windows, patio doors, and exterior doors.
Repair window and patio door screens.
Keep track of scrap inventory.
Keep track of inventory transferred from other departments.
Assist in physical inventories.
Assist the millwork department with stacking or unloading trucks as needed.
2. Field Service Duties:
Perform product inspections.
Communicate and determine warranty versus non-warranty repairs to project coordinators, homeowners, or contractors.
Inspect homeowner/contractor concerns through written and photo documentation and provide recommendations, including maintenance recommendations to homeowners.
Provide complete measurements and information for estimates on warranty and non-warranty work.
Troubleshoot, adjust, install, assemble, and repair windows, patio doors, and exterior doors from a variety of manufacturers, including FarNorth, Marvin, and Andersen.
Complete installations or repairs in a timely manner and clean up the area after service.
Collect balances from customers as needed/directed.
Communicate about each job's status, repair status, part needs, and completion status with the service department and repair needs (warranty/non-warranty) to customers and homeowners.
Provide complete paperwork, including documentation to support manufacturing warranty and non-warranty requirements.
Safely operate a van and trailer to transport window and door components to job sites.
Maintain, clean, and organize the work vehicle.
3. Continuous Improvement:
Support continuous improvement initiatives and follow standard work as it applies to your work area and job functions.
Provide and seek input from your team to identify process improvement opportunities.
Follow standard work documented processes for changing standard work.
Participate in 6S events and sustain improvements in your assigned area.
Support and promote continuous improvement incentives within your area.
4. Safety and Wellness:
Offer suggestions to continually increase knowledge and awareness of safety.
Participate in safety and awareness training as assigned.
Proper use of all personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and in all circumstances.
Operate equipment and tools according to established safety standards and regulations and only after being trained.
Support and promote safety and wellness initiatives.
Report all safety concerns, hazards, and incidents.
Follow ergonomically correct standards in the workplace.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years of building installation of windows, doors, and patio products
Knowledge of FarNorth, Marvin, and Andersen products preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Excellent communication skills using oral, verbal, written, or other skills.

Excellent problem-solving skills and arithmetic/analytical/estimating abilities.
Ability to work with dissatisfied customers.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of building and window installation techniques.

Ability to read a tape measure.
Ability to identify and use standard equipment and tools needed to perform the job.
Ability to pull, back up, and safely maneuver a trailer.
Ability to use phones, computer applications, and software needed for business.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work and lift on ladders and scaffolding and "Man Lift" up to 100' in the air.
Ability to lift 75 lbs. - 100 lbs. on a regular basis (over 100 lbs. occasionally).
Good hand and finger dexterity needed to disassemble and reassemble parts and components.
As business needs mandate - flexible start and stop times.
Stand for the majority of the workday, often on concrete flooring.
Bend, stoop, kneel, and squat to floor level on a regular basis.
Reach and pull overhead when grasping materials.
ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work outside in extreme temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.
Work on ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and steep roof pitches.
Exposed to mechanical equipment.
Dusty working environment.
Exposure to loud noise.
LICENSE(S) AND/OR CERTIFICATE(S):
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Possess a current DOT Health Card OR the ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a DOT Health Card.
The ability to become Marvin and Andersen Service Repair Certified.
