POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine at University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine s seeking an Assistant Professor to practice medicine in a designated specialty with reasonable skill and safety. The position will staff a new non-resident hospitalist service. This service will serve as an adjunct to a well-established resident hospitalist service currently operating Tampa General Hospital. Serving as USF's primary hospital affiliate, Tampa General is a level 1 trauma center and tertiary referral center. This position will assist with developing a practice that puts the focus on the hospitalist being the doctor. Group provides 24 hour in-house coverage; 7on / 7off block scheduling with 12 hour shifts; Maximum average daily census 16 patients; Procedures and vent management not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- CLINICAL: Hospital general internal medicine in an in-patient setting.
- TEACHING: Teach medical students and residents about in-patient and out-patient internal medicine; with the majority of effort involving supervising internal medicine residents in an in-patient setting. Position may also do precepting medical students in an ambulatory clerkship.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
- May represent the university, college/school, or department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine. Must be board-certified in Internal Medicine.
