Position Description:
Arconic is currently in search of a Supply Chain Transportation Coordinator to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business in Alcoa, TN. Arconic's Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The role will report to our Alcoa, TN location which is located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains which continues to thrive and grow.
The successful candidate will collaborate with internal customers and external carriers to safely and efficiently schedule and coordinate a variety of inbound and outbound shipments within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position will also be responsible for securing and scheduling all carrier/transportation modes each day across a broad carrier base. The incumbent will be responsible for tactical, logistics, planning activities.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent's responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
Develop and optimize transportation routes and schedules for domestic and international outbound shipments based on cost, time, appointment availability and delivery requirements utilizing internal ERP (SAP) and Transportation Management Software (TMS)
Coordinate inbound scrap shipments to/from external customers, secondary market, toll processors, ingot and remelt facilities based on cost, time, and delivery requirements, utilizing internal ERP (SAP) and Transportation Management Software (TMS)
Work with freight companies, third party carriers, and internal key stake holders throughout the organization to ensure timely and efficient movement of material
Monitors the progress of shipments and provide updates to internal stakeholders
Provide status updates to customers and ensure any transportation issues are resolved promptly.
Identify problems, gathering and analyzing information, and developing actionable solutions
Work with various departments throughout the facility and outside processors to resolve daily tactical issues related to transportation carriers
Evaluate carrier performance, documentation quality and reporting through internal reporting tools and performance reviews
Monitor inventory levels and provide support to lean manufacturing initiatives in the Logistics and Planning areas
Work effectively with multi-functional teams in a global organization
This role is primarily dayshift, Monday-Friday. However, it is expected that the incumbent can work occasional weekends and off shifts.
