Overview
The IT Software Tester 2 is responsible for developing test plans and applicable scripted testing from existing user and technical requirement specifications. Tests application functionality in the user environment before the go-live phase of development.
Responsibilities
• Understand project scope, requirements, design, and project documentation
• Write test plans and test procedures to execute test plans and applicable testing for local systems
• Work closely with development team to cover the testing needs of new features and enhancements
• Document results of testing with software developers and other team members
• Prepare test data
• Use and analyze applications under test
• Identifies issues, problems, defects, and reports on test results
• Serves as liaison between User and IT
• Contribute to product quality through testing
• Perform various testing techniques to identify high risk areas, refine requirements, and isolate bugs to increase stability of applications under test
• Performs work under general supervision.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
• May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
Qualifications
Minimum Work Experience/Educational Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in an information technology field of study or related field or 3 -5 years of experience in an Information Technology role supporting software development
• Familiarity with Java, PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Minimum of 2 years experience writing test cases
• Knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle)
• Familiarity with manual testing techniques
• Exposure to tools like JIRA, Azure Backlog/DevOps, or other bug tracking systems
• Ability to understand requirements and identify test cases
• Logical thinking to find edge cases and defects
• Ability to document test cases, write test reports, and communicate bugs effectively
Preferred
• Understanding of basic programming or scripting (e.g. Python, Java) for automated testing
• Hands-on experience in testing Oracle ERP Suite, specifically the Order to Cash (OTC) module
• Basic understanding of automated testing tools like Selenium, Postman (for API testing), or Appium
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
• Works under general office environment conditions
• Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, equipment, etc.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under the ADA
• Requires occasional early morning or late evening teleconferences
• International and domestic travel as required
