POSITION REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS LEVERAGED
•Enrolled in an accredited law school with 1L curriculum completed before the Summer of 2025
•Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
•Ability to work well independently and with a team in varying environments
•Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects
•Previous experience related to banking, finance, risk management, financial institution supervision, government, or other public sector work is preferred, but not required.
ABOUT OUR GROUP/TEAM
The SF Fed Legal Group provides counsel and strategic legal support to all SF
Fed business groups. We're on top of what's happening in the world around us so that we can act as thought partners on emerging issues and provide practical legal strategies.
WHAT WILL YOU DO THIS SUMMER?
Our intern will use their legal training, creativity, and practical problem-solving skills to help answer cutting-edge questions in real time. The position will provide the opportunity to gain meaningful experience in an in-house legal department with exposure to the following practice areas:
•Banking, Regulation & Credit– Support the supervision and regulation of financial institutions and the protection of consumers. The intern will help analyze the legal and policy implications of new technologies, Fintech partnerships, climate risk, central banking lending and financial services, and the regulation of digital assets.
•Contracts/Corporate – Support our contracts team in drafting and negotiating a contracts for consulting, SaaS, technology, and other products and services. Also, partner with our attorneys to help craft pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice on a wide range of corporate legal issues.
•Employment Law – Support the employment law team in advising the SF Fed's People + Culture organization on employment legal advice and guidance, including inclusion and diversity initiatives; workplace accommodations; internal investigations; and other employment-related policies and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: With the guidance of more senior team members, intern will:
•Partner with SF Fed business groups to understand their business goals and help find efficient, practical ways to achieve them.
•Provide practical, plain language legal advice in response to client questions.
•Draft contracts and other legal agreements; and identify and anticipate emerging legal and regulatory issues.
Hourly range: $32.00 - $35.00
Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
