Quality Control Inspector (R&D)
Quality Inspectors are responsible for monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, examining products to determine their quality and engaging with employees and management and gathering product feedback, among other duties.
Job Duties:
Monitor operations to ensure they meet quality, production standards, project specs, and tank standards. Ensure product and manufacturing lines perform effectively. Inspect, test, or measure all materials and products being produced (dimensional and visual inspections). Document and report any material nonconformities and rework to QA and the shop foreman. Keep accurate documentation of in process and final inspections for QA and production control. Help and assist shop personnel with interpretation of drawings and specifications as needed. Assist shop foreman and supervisor(s) in day-to-day production as needed. Utilize and maintain skills for CEI Pro-Write S9 Management Software for WPS / WPQ submittals. Create tank turnover packages for the customers / project managers as requested. Assist with welder performance qualification (WPQ) testing / evaluations for shop and field personnel. Travel to field sites as needed to inspect, evaluate, and document tank erection, welding, and coating activities. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Qualifications:
Advanced Blueprint reading certification (obtain through PTTG) CAWI or CWI preferable / AMPP NACE CIP Level 1 (obtain) Experience within the industry (steel fabrication / welding / coatings) Strong attention to detail, observation, organizational, and leadership skills Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures, standards, and codes Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel helpful
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts consistent with a fabrication shop environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to changing weather conditions and working at moderate heights. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers;
reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color perception, and ability to adjust focus.
