Job Summary
The City of Fort Collins is looking for part-time (less than 29 hours a week) Truck Drivers/Laborers and seasonal (up to 6 months) full-time Truck Drivers/Laborers with a current CDL to work on our Street Department Crews. Our Operators perform work related to day-to-day operations and functions of the Streets Departments including minor and major construction of streets and alleys; snow and ice removal; and crushing recycling operations. Operators maintain and operate equipment which may include front-end loader, bulldozer, skid steer, dump truck, backhoe, tractor, street sweeper, and paving equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
-Operates and maintains equipment such as tractor, small front-end loader, sweeper, dump truck, or plow truck.
-Perform snow removal duties.
-May operate heavy equipment.
-May patch broken or eroded pavement; remove debris from streets; perform snow removal.
-May input daily work data into a computer.
-May perform general building maintenance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is not responsible for the daily supervision of regular City employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-Ability to work on call and after hours as needed.
-Ability to operate a variety of light to heavy sized equipment and/or vehicles.
-Knowledge of general vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
-Ability to follow and enforce City safety regulations.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
-High school diploma or GED; one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Previous truck driving experience is highly desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
REASONING ABILITY
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
-Current Commercial Driver's License
