We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Manager to lead our Cloud Governance & Strategy team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our cloud infrastructure, governance frameworks, and cost optimization efforts. As the technical leader, you will manage and mentor a talented team, collaborate across business units, and ensure our cloud operations are efficient, secure, and aligned with broader organizational goals.Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of cloud engineers and technical professionals. Manage day-to-day operations, including planning, organising, coaching, and performance evaluations. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
- Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Serve as the lead for cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring the adoption of industry best practices for scalability, security, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with development teams to establish and document cloud architecture standards and technological direction. Work closely with our engineering guild and business partnering teams to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide objectives.
- Governance & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain cloud governance frameworks to ensure compliance, security, and risk management across the cloud infrastructure. Continuous oversight of our cloud services to guarantee adherence to compliance standards and organisational policies.
- Cloud Optimization & Cost Management: Oversee initiatives for optimising cloud resource usage, focusing on cost management, efficiency, compute and storage optimisation. Drive improvements in cloud spend analysis and proactively identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising performance or security.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a trusted technical consultant for senior management, product managers, and cross-functional teams. Provide strategic recommendations and technical insights to inform key business decisions and ensure cloud initiatives support broader organisational goals.
- Project Leadership: Lead cloud-related projects from inception to completion, managing resources, timelines, and budgets. Identify and implement shared software components that can be leveraged across the enterprise for maximum value and efficiency.
- Innovation & Automation: Champion cloud automation and the integration of emerging cloud technologies. Promote the use of cloud-native tools and frameworks that improve operational efficiency, increase automation, and reduce manual intervention.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud architecture, governance, and technical leadership, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Cloud Expertise: Deep expertise in public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience in designing, deploying, and optimising cloud environments at scale. Strong understanding of cloud security, cost optimisation, and governance best practices.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and mentoring technical teams. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align cloud strategies with business objectives, balancing innovation with practical execution to meet organisational goals.
- Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
