The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in AI-enabled Clean Energy Materials Discovery at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant (Tenure-track), or Associate Professor (Tenure-eligible) ranks, with a joint appointment in Computer Science. The rank of the appointment will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. This position aims to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration by bringing together materials scientists, computational experts, and automation specialists to explore the fusion of their respective fields in accelerating materials development to overcome current limitations in clean energy technology. The emphasis will be on design and scalable manufacture of next-generation batteries that store more energy per unit weight and volume, charge rapidly, and made of abundant materials. The department is looking for outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2025.
