Logistics Coordinator (Finance)
Job Summary: The Logistics Coordinator will manage and oversee the end-to-end process of importing goods into the USA and distributing them efficiently to various destinations. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, customs brokers, transportation providers, warehousing partners and internal teams to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics, USA import/Customs regulations, and distribution practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Import Management:
o Coordinate and manage the import process from offshore supplier to U.S. warehouse, including ocean transport, documentation, customs clearance, and in-land transportation inside the USA.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant import regulations and standards.
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
o Resolve any issues or discrepancies with customs documentation or import procedures.
2. Distribution Coordination:
o Develop and implement efficient distribution strategies to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
o Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers to optimize delivery routes and reduce costs.
o Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
o Address and resolve any issues related to distribution, including delays or damaged goods.
3. Communication and Collaboration:
o Act as the primary point of contact between suppliers, customs brokers, and internal teams regarding import and distribution matters.
o Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and sales teams to align logistics operations with business objectives.
o Provide regular updates and reports on logistics performance and status of shipments.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate and organized records of all import and distribution activities.
o Prepare and review necessary documentation for imports, including bills of lading, import declarations, customs/import duties and compliance certificates.
o Generate reports on logistics performance, including cost analysis, delivery times, and inventory levels.
5. Continuous Improvement:
o Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in the logistics and distribution processes.
o Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
o Stay current with industry trends and advancements in logistics technology.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of [2] years of experience in Logistics/Supply chain, USA imports and distribution preferred.
Strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and distribution practices.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in INCOTERMS 2020.
Proficient in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CLTD).
Experience with ERP systems and advanced logistics software.
Multilingual abilities (if applicable to your business needs).
