A Day in the Life
The Director of Global Commercial Training & Education is responsible for the global strategic management and development of robust field training and education strategies, curriculum,
communication vehicles and content for specific product and therapy areas that are in line with the
Peripheral Vascular Health Business objectives. The emphasis is on the development and delivery of
high quality and relevant educational content, measurement of content delivery/retention and
determination of programs based on global business / regional need and requirements. This role
strategically leads and manages a team of education professionals responsible for development and
execution of commercial training and education content.
• Provides leadership and vision on the strategic development, planning, implementation and assessment of comprehensive commercial training and education programs and resources in support of the Peripheral Vascular Health products and therapies.
• Determines global education priorities and plans based on key strategic initiatives and regional educational needs
• Manages, develops, coaches, and supports a team of training and education professionals.
• Provides information and recognition that effectively supports and motivates staff to achieve organizational objectives.
• Identifies synergies across PVH functions and leverage in order to improve process and make work easier to get done.
• Collaborate with broader Medtronic businesses to identify synergies, share best practices, and develop relationships with other education peers in order to drive continuous improvement of commercial training programs.
• Determines the appropriate distribution and time management of the department workload within the training department.
• Collaborates with commercial leadership and other cross functional leaders to align on business objectives in order to meet education needs of field force.
• Effectively manages the day-to-day operations of the Global Commercial Training and Education department and assists in the empowerment of employees and individual as well as department goal setting.
• Ensure development and delivery of content follows Adult Learning Principles and practices
• Partners with key constituents on curriculum development - marketing managers, reimbursement and economic experts, portfolio and pipeline individuals to determine relevant and impactful programs
• Leads the project management, development and review of high quality internal and external educational content and curriculum, while maintaining priorities established by the education strategy.
• Proactively support company goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and performs in accordance with industry and government regulation guidelines (i.e. FDA, AdvaMed, etc
• Leads efforts to interface proactively with cross-functional and global regional partners, including, marketing, clinical, regional managers, sales leadership, and sales staff, to determine education and training needs. Develops strong relationships that help facilitate meeting of goals.
• Leads team efforts to establish regional training plans to ensure regional achievement of measures / certifications. Prioritization, design and development of programs to meet outcomes of regional training plans
• Provides strategic leadership in the partnership with regions on product launches, continuing education plans, sales representative certification and selling skills, including identification of needs, timelines, and budget to support the launches.
• Acts as the primary point of contact for educational resource providers, including negotiating contracts and services in liaison with senior management of the external vendor organizations.
• Represents Peripheral SBU in cross business / cross regional educational initiatives - Learning Management Systems, Mobile Learning Management Systems, vendor evaluation and selection, etc
. • Maintains a professional and credible image with key physicians, consultants, vendors and coworkers. Establishes strong, long-term working relationships
• Maintains a working knowledge of internal and external market best practices, as it relates to education and training. Leads change within current programs in alignment with business strategy.
• Manage the entire expense budget for SBU education activity within the PVH organization. Provide input to AOP within functional area and participate in development of cost center budget to maximize business results. Exercises considerable latitude in determining annual objectives and approaches to meeting departmental goals.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree
• 10+ years' experience in a role where education development and delivery was a focus (8 years with a Masters)
• Medical device or healthcare industry experience • Experience with content and curriculum development following Adult Learning Principles
• Experience in sales rep certification, knowledge retention and measurement
• Peripheral vascular disease experience
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree
• People management experience
• Training experience outside the US
• Specific experience with development of curriculum and education content in cardiovascular disease and treatment would be strongly preferred
• Experience of selecting and managing external expert suppliers

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$171,200.00 - $256,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
